AHHHHHHHHHHH, Part II

So Michael had been playing with his little toy animals all day. He kept giving me a frog and telling me to hold it tight so it wouldn't jump out. He gave James a snake to play with when he was grumpy. Then he told me there was a little lizard under his fire truck in his room and gave me a flashlight. I played along. I laid down on his floor and started looking under his bed. "Nope. no lizards under there." I looked under the dresser. "Nope no little lizards under here. Where did that silly lizard go?" I army crawled over to the fire truck and said, "I know, I'll look under here" and moved the fire truck over. But what's under there is not a little purple, plastic lizard. It's a gecko. A real one. 3 inches from my nose. I shrieked (CAN'T HELP IT!) and jumped up, which sent Michael running from his room. By the time I picked up James, moved him to the living room, calmed Michael down and retained a suitable gecko catching device, he was of course gone. And I can't see him anywhere. I'm sure he's under the bed. I told Michael to come find me if he sees him again, but for now, we've got a lizard on the loose. And I don't like it. Not one little bit.

Weekend Project

Dustin and I have been working on a few projects around the house trying to get all the decorating done. He is a whiz with the tools and loves to work with wood. Our latest project was decorating the office. We made a new window valence, which matches the curtains in the family room, and some floating shelves to finish off the look. We now have 3 rooms in the house that are 100% decorated to my liking. What do you think? Any suggestions of what I can put on these floating shelves? (I just threw some stuff up there for the pictures, and I'm knickknack challenged)

Here's some pictures of Michael and Dustin getting the job done.

Can you guess which drill belongs to which boy?

Like Heaven

I can't get over how cute it is when I come home from the gym to find all my boys napping together. Dustin is a miracle worker.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I was tired. It was a long, hot day and my nice cool bed seemed the perfect remedy. Michael had been playing on the bed and rumpled the sheets and pillows around. As I scooped up my pillow to replace it something scurried across my hand. I stopped my conversation with Dustin mid-sentence, squeaked rather loudly, and hopped up and down just like you see on the movies. I can't help it. The squeal and hop is hard wired into the female DNA. But you would squeal too as you watched that gecko scurry off into the folds of your sheets and out of sight.
Dustin was able to find him and chuck him out in to the dark abysmal night for me, but it was too late.
My bed had been violated.
This is my sanctuary. I lay down on my personal could 9 every night and sluff off all my cares, woes and concerns. That night as I lay down I gingerly pulled my sheet up over me and pinched my eyes tight. I lay stiff as a board just waiting for something to start tickling my leg or burrow in my hair. Ugh. I despise those little creeping tings: in fact, I loathe them.

The missing weeks

Just to catch you up to speed on the last few weeks....
We have had so many tomatoes we hardly knew what to do with them. Really. We've had about 5 of these bowls full of them. I've made tomato soup, tomato sauce, salsa, and (our favorite so far) broiled open face tomato and pepper jack cheese sandwiches on thick homemade bread with a jalapeno cheddar spread. SO good.

James is now crawling and doing a pretty good job keeping up with Michael. This has also necessitated sweeping and vacuuming on a daily basis so as to prevent ingestion of heaven-only-knows what.

We went to Six Flags for Dustin's company picnic. Having two babies, and being quite hot, it was a short visit. We did, however, ride the train around about 10 times. Michael was so sad when we finally got off.

We have also been to Oklahoma a couple times, had a really fun fourth of July and finished a few big projects around the house. But mostly, we've just been hanging out and loving life.

MIA

I'm sorry to say that my camera battery charger was MIA. Of course, I discovered this after my battery was totally drained. Luckily it has been recovered and will soon be shipped and on its way. Then the pics and posts can resume. One day my kids are going to grow up and wonder whatever became of this month of their life while I've been devoid of battery. Stupid charger.
