Life as we knew it

I've just finished reading this book and I'm absolutely traumatized. I know, as an author your job is to try and invoke emotion in your readers. Make them laugh, make them cry, this is all good and well. This author has done one of the most effective jobs to date--I'm scared to death.
The book starts out with a comet hitting the moon, which pushes it off its orbit. Slightly. This results in an unending stream of earthquakes, tsunamis enveloping the coasts, volcanoes exploding everywhere. . .
The book follows the life of this 16 year old girl and her family. The entire book is about how they are starving/freezing to death. Plagues, illnesses, you name it, it happens. Really, Moses let the Pharaoh off easy. The worst part is, this could totally happen. There has got to be some reason the general authorities have mentioned food storage for YEARS now. Well I for one, am done ignoring them. I'm going to Walmart tonight and buying a case of every canned good they have.
The next time I have to give a lesson on personal preparedness, I'm reading this book aloud.

The knot has been tied!

We just got back from my brother's wedding in Boise this weekend. I took a ridiculously large amount of pics there, so I won't post them all here. But as you can see I have the cutest family around so I couldn't resist putting up a few. Enjoy!
Not the most flattering pic pf my brother, Michael but Taya's face was so funny! She's thinking " Whoa, you got me!"
This is what you do with a tired 22 month old kid at a wedding
This is my sister Keri, Michael and my nephew McKay. As taken by my niece, Emma.
I'd like to title this picture, "The reason for birth control." This is all my nieces and nephews to date. One more coming in March. we missed you Rachael!
And this is us. The end!

Burn Baby Burn!

Last year for Dustin's birthday I decided to give in and get him a subscription to Sports Illustrated. He's a sports fanatic. It was the perfect gift--just keeps on giving. Well today as I went to get the mail, there was his weekly SI waiting for him. Unfortunately, it was the swimsuit issue. I took one look at the cover and the very thought of my husband perusing those pages.... The following event happened shortly thereafter (see above picture).

Diaper Dilemmas

Michael has this thing with trying to take off his diaper and pants simultaneously. Usually he only gets about half way down before he gives up, or I pull them back up. This time I decided there was some good blackmail to be had for future teenage years. This is what Michael thought about that.

Peer Pressure

I feel I've let down poor Nancy Reagan through my inability to "Just say no." My friends have blogs. My sister does a blog. I'm sure my neighbor has one too. So here I am in the midst of the throng, finally succumbing to the peer pressure mounting around me. Blogging. I feel I must inform you that I will never have anything brilliant to say. Nothing fantastic to report. My spelling is atrocious. Yet I still hope that my occasional posting will bring a smile, a laugh, perhaps a sigh as I heave my thoughts into the pensieve before you.
Actually, who am I kidding. Every few weeks I might slap a picture of my kid up here. If you're lucky, it will have a comment with it. Yep. That sounds more like it. Enjoy!
