Imperial Beach
We spent our last day of vacation in am amazing hotel right on the beach just south of San Diego. It was awesome. If only they had free breakfast there....
All the rest
Here are all the rest of the vacation pictures that didn't fit into the other neat categories of posts....
SeaWorld
Karen scored some tickets to get us into Sea World our first full day in San Diego. The weather got a little warm in the afternoon, and some of the rides were closed, but we almost had the place to ourselves. We loved watching the shows, seeing the animals and spending time with Mimi (who took way better pictures than me. I'm going to have to download them next time I see her).
Old Town
Our first stop right off the plane was for lunch in Old Town. We also visited the blacksmith there and later, we went to the Mormon Batallion Museum (which the kids actually LOVED). We were even able to find a squished penny machine!
The Beach
It was a good thing we left San Diego when we did, because our boys were on track to becoming regular beach bums. We swam, made castles, hunted for shells and just relaxed. The water in Zuma was the most beautiful, but also the most frigid! David braved it long enough to give Michael a lesson in body boarding. I made it up to my knees.
Visiting the Chalks in LA
From the moment I googled the distance from Sand Diego to my brother's house, and found it was less than 3 hours, I have been SO excited to see his family. It's been two years since we were last there. I'd never even met their youngest daughter. It was long overdue.
We spent the weekend going to soccer games, hanging at the beach and just chatting and catching up. Rachael and I even went with some of her friends on a walking cupcake tour of LA. David even went so far as to share his stash of Swiss chocolate with me. Great memories. The kids miss their cousins already.
On the way out of town, we took the kids to see the tarpits and went to lunch at Fat Sal's (which has been featured on DDD). The sandwich Dustin has there is cheesesteak, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, bacon, fried eggs, french fries and ketchup.
