When Dustin started his new job at AT&T a few weeks ago, he only had two days available for personal/sick leave. With this in mind, we made the decision for me to be induced on Friday morning so we could spend the most time together before he had to be back at work. My brother Steven arrived on my doorstep at 4:45 in the morning to watch our kids for us, and Dustin and I arrived at the hospital at 5:00 am.

By 7:00 I was on the IV, receiving fluids, and started on the pitocin. At 8:00 the doctor arrived and broke my water. At 9:00 the anesthesiologist made his appearance (though 8:15 was really when I needed him) and at 11:45 my doctor returned. At 12:05 I was holding my beautiful new son. He was 8 lbs, 11 ozs and 21.5 inches long. Michael and James had been in the waiting room with my mother in law and they came in to see him about 45 minutes later.

Andrew and I both did really well through the process, and are continuing to recover quickly here at home.

James is either completely ignoring Andrew or trying to love him to death. When the baby sneezes, James will say "Bess you Andrew" and when Andrew had the hiccups last night James stood by his bassinet and laughed hysterically.
Michael can not get enough of his new little brother. He wants to hold him all the time, and when he does it's often for 20 minutes or more. Michael talks to him, sings to him and even helps change his diaper. He's always telling me not to worry about it; he will take care of Andrew. And he does.
It's very, very cute how much love Andrew gets from his two big brothers. We feel very blessed to have Andrew in our family and that the transition is going so smoothly for all of us. I hope you all get to meet him soon!
